Deep Night with Dale
A Talk Show Host For a New Age
One of NYC’s Longest-Running Comedy Podcasts
Launched in 2009, Deep Night with Dale (formerly Dale Radio) is a podcast and comedy-centric talk show. Bewley hosts the show and performs live in the guise of his turtleneck-wearing, aspiring cult leader alter-ego, Dale Seever. The podcast has featured hundreds of in-depth interviews with some of the best and brightest comedians, artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, and crystal lovers in New York City. James/Dale has demonstrated a knack for identifying talent on the rise and Deep Night has captured fascinating conversations with people just as exciting things are starting to happen. Past guests have included Janeane Garofalo, Todd Barry, Phoebe Robinson, Michelle Buteau, Bridget Everett, Ilana Glazer, John Early, Julio Torres, Bowen Yang, Griffin Newman, Lola Kirke, Kate Berlant, Josh Gondelman, Nikki Glaser, and Cole Escola, among many others.
Dale first appeared more than fifteen years ago, during Bewley’s time in San Francisco and in collaboration with writer/performer Erin Bradley. What started out as a fading lounge act about marital issues became something darker and weirder the more time went on. The entire Dale Seever project is an experiment in long-form storytelling, an attempt to build a single cohesive narrative through one character. If one were to listen to all 300+ episodes one would be able to track a single arc extending throughout the ten plus years of conversations and solo episodes.
